Grading System and GPA Requirements
Our grading system is designed to accurately reflect the academic performance and understanding of our students. The system is crucial in evaluating coursework, determining academic standing, and ensuring the integrity of our academic programs.
Detailed Grading Scale
The following scale is used for evaluating students in all approved courses:
-
A = 4.00 points
-
A- = 3.67 points
-
B+ = 3.33 points
-
B = 3.00 points
-
B- = 2.67 points
-
C+ = 2.33 points
-
C = 2.00 points
-
F = 0 points
Courses not evaluated on this scale are graded as “Pass” (P) or “Not Passed” (NP). These courses do not contribute credits or factor into the GPA.
Incomplete Grades (I)
-
An incomplete grade (I) is assigned if a student, due to justified reasons, fails to complete course requirements. These requirements must be fulfilled within a specified timeframe, or the grade will change to “Fail” (F).
Minimum GPA for Graduation
-
Master’s Degree: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required for graduation.
-
Graduate Diploma: A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.67 is necessary for obtaining the diploma.
These GPA requirements are a reflection of our commitment to academic excellence and the rigor of our programs.
Handling Grade Disputes
-
Initial Step: Students should first address any grade disputes with the Course Instructor within two working days from the announcement of the grade.
-
Formal Appeal: If unsatisfied, students can submit a written petition to the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies within a week of the grade posting.
-
Review Process: A special committee may be formed to review the complaint and decide on appropriate action, with a final decision made by the second week of the following academic semester.
Note: The College of Law and the Center of Medical Sciences may have specific systems for handling grade disputes.
