Academic Integrity
At CGS, we uphold a strong commitment to Academic Integrity, a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. We take any violations, including cheating, plagiarism, and misconduct during examinations, very seriously. These regulations are in place to ensure fairness and maintain the high standards of our academic community.
Cheating and Attempted Cheating
-
Reporting Incidents: Incidents of cheating or attempted cheating must be reported by the examination supervisor. The report should include the student’s name, student number, subject, date, time of the examination, and a detailed description of the incident.
-
Consequences of Cheating: Confirmed incidents of cheating lead to the student failing all courses registered during that semester and notification to relevant Program Directors and faculty.
-
Repeat Offenses: A second instance of cheating results in academic dismissal and a permanent record of the offense.
Violation of Examination Regulations
-
Violations of examination regulations are reported for further action, which may lead to the student failing the implicated course.
Plagiarism in Thesis and Projects
-
Plagiarism in thesis and project work is strictly prohibited and considered a serious infringement of academic integrity. This includes any form of copying or using another person’s work without proper attribution.
-
Detected instances of plagiarism can result in severe academic consequences, including failing the thesis or project and potential dismissal from the program.
Applicability of Undergraduate Rules
-
Where specific graduate rules are not mentioned, graduate students are expected to follow the rules governing undergraduate students.
