Academic Assistantships at KU provide Master’s Degree students with an opportunity to engage in academic activities that support undergraduate teaching. These roles are designed to complement the students’ learning experience while providing practical experience in an academic setting.
Role and Assignment Process

Nature of Duties: Academic assistants are expected to perform tasks related to teaching requirements but are not involved directly in teaching.

Assignment Approval: Students interested in an assistantship must obtain approval from the Program Committee, the Chairman of the academic department, and the College of Graduate Studies.
Eligibility and Conditions

Requirements for Assistantship Approval:

To be eligible for an academic assistantship, a student must be enrolled in a Master’s Degree Program on a full-time, regular basis.

Not have any other income source from employment or grants, except for grants from the University’s Research Administration for graduate student support.

Duration and Workload:

Academic assistantships are awarded for a maximum duration of twenty-four months.

The assigned workload for an academic assistant is six (6) hours per week at the academic department.

Value of Assistantship:

The monthly remuneration for an academic assistant is two hundred Kuwaiti Dinars (KD 200).
