Academic Assistantships are available at KU for Ph.D. students, providing them with an opportunity to engage in academic tasks and contribute to the undergraduate teaching process. These roles are tailored to enhance their academic experience and professional development.
Assignment Process and Eligibility

Request and Approval for Assistantship:

Ph.D. students may request to be assigned academic assistant duties, subject to approval from the Program Committee, the Chairman of the academic department, and the College of Graduate Studies.

Conditions for Assistantship Approval:

Eligibility for an assistantship requires full-time enrollment in a Ph.D. program.

No other source of income from employment or grants, excluding grants from the University’s Research Administration for graduate student support.

Duration, Workload, and Value

Assistantship Duration: The duration of the assistantship is capped at thirty-six months.

Assigned Workload: Academic assistants are expected to work six (6) hours per week in the academic department.

Remuneration: The monthly value of the academic assistantship is two hundred and fifty Kuwaiti Dinars (KD 250).
Compliance and Refund Policy

The assistantship award is contingent on fulfilling the conditions mentioned above.

Failure to meet these conditions results in the cessation of payment, and the student may be required to refund any amount received during non-compliance.
