Academic Probation and Dismissal Policy

Understanding Academic Probation

Academic probation serves as a crucial indicator of a student’s academic standing at Kuwait University. A student may be placed on academic probation in either of the following scenarios:

Low Grade Point Average:

  • For Master’s and Doctoral Students:

    • A student is placed on probation if their Grade Point Average (GPA) drops below 2.67.

    • Receiving an Unsatisfactory “U” grade in the thesis also results in probation.

  • For Diploma Students: Diploma students are put on probation if their GPA falls below 2.33.

Policy Implications and Support
  • Continued Probation: A student will face academic dismissal from the program if they remain on probation for the same reason for two consecutive evaluations.

  • Support Measures: The College offers various support measures to assist students on probation, including academic counseling and resources to help them address the areas of concern.

  • Appeal Process: Students facing academic dismissal have the right to appeal the decision. The appeal process is detailed in the College’s by-laws and provides an opportunity for students to present their case.
