The Occupational Therapy Department at Kuwait University is to continue to be an internationally recognized academic and professional program known for the excellence of its graduates, its contribution to knowledge creation and services to the community, locally and nationally.

 

Mission

The Occupational Therapy Department at Kuwait University is committed to excellence in education and research. By fostering an environment rich in theory, research, critical thinking, collaboration, and professional development, the occupational therapy program prepares professional, competent, and innovative occupational therapists that are prepared to meet the changing demands of societal health and an evolving healthcare service environment.

 

Educational Objectives

  • To exemplify the highest standards of quality in teaching, research, and service.
  • To educate competent occupational therapists who serve diverse populations in varied settings, function as master practitioners, and who are active collaborators in the research process, educators, and promoters of occupational therapy.
  • To develop professionals who are able to communicate, discuss, and apply the art and science of occupational therapy and have a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • To engage in scholarly work and participate in scientific inquiry.
  • To provide relevant and meaningful community service and continuing professional education to occupational therapists and other allied health professions.

 

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Recognize, integrate, and discuss issues pertaining to public health and occupational therapy practices, and articulate methods to effect change.
  • Convert clinical issues and public health problems into a focused research topic and develop a research proposal accordingly.
  • Find, analyze, and integrate scholarly works from both occupational therapy and other appropriate sources; design, implement, and disseminate research project findings as well as demonstrate the basics of grant writing.
  • Advance fundamental knowledge of practice from the baccalaureate degree in a specialty area of cognitive and psychosocial health. This gain in knowledge practice can be critical to creative thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and effective communication.
