Ensuring Compliance with Scholarship Terms at Kuwait University

The Graduate Studies Excellence Scholarship at Kuwait University comes with specific terms and conditions regarding deferral, suspension, withdrawal, and cancellation. Understanding these policies is crucial for maintaining the scholarship and adhering to its stipulations.

Scholarship Deferral Policy

  • Deferring the scholarship to a later date is not permitted. Recipients must register for their graduate program according to the date specified in the admission notification letter.

  • Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the immediate cancellation of the scholarship.

Scholarship Suspension Conditions

  • The scholarship may be suspended due to unforeseen personal circumstances such as illness, maternity, or urgent family matters.

  • Approval Process: Suspension requires the approval of the academic supervisor, program director, and the College of Graduate Studies.

  • Duration and Frequency: The suspension period cannot exceed six months and may occur only twice during the scholarship duration.

  • Financial Implications: Scholarship payments will be halted during the suspension period, and the overall scholarship duration will be adjusted accordingly.

Cancellation of the Scholarship

  • Violation of Continuation Conditions: Scholarship is canceled if any condition for its continuation is violated.

  • Based on Reports/Requests: Cancellation may occur upon a justified report/request from the academic supervisor, subject to approval.

  • Transfer to Another Institution: Transferring to an academic institution other than Kuwait University leads to cancellation.

  • Voluntary Withdrawal: Withdrawing from the program results in cancellation.

  • Violation of University Policies: Infringements of University regulations, student regulations, ethical codes, or scholarship policies lead to cancellation.

  • Unapproved Absences: Scholarship is canceled if the program director and area committee chairman inform the College of the student’s absence from study without permission or after failing to attend three consecutive agreed-upon sessions with their supervisor or co-supervisor.

  • False Information: Providing false information in the scholarship application will result in cancellation.

  • Financial Responsibility: In the event of cancellation, the student must return all scholarship funds paid, unless an exception is justified and approved by the College of Graduate Studies.
